Job Description Smack Magazine is currently hiring Freelance Content Writers for the upcoming issues of Smack Magazine to cover Downtown Houston, TX neighborhood.  Categories covered, events, food & dining, performances, social media interests, sporting events, club and bar scene. If you’re an experienced writer who is reliable, flexible, and loves to research niche fields or industries, then we invite you to join the Smack Magazine Street Team. The Smack Magazine Street Team provides content for our print publication, website and social guide mobile app with engaging, informative, and entertaining articles. Responsibilities Conduct research on industry-related topics Writing well-organized 100-to-500-word articles including video content Submit editor approved well-written articles and blog content Proofread and edit content before submission Submit work to editors for input and approval Follow SEO guidelines for optimal SERP ranking Ensure all-around consistency (style, tone, images, etc.) Requirements Proven work experience as a Content Writer, Editor, or similar role Portfolio of published articles (in English or Spanish) Experience doing research using multiple sources Excellent writing and editing skills (in English or Spanish). Ability to meet deadlines Amenable to making revisions/edits if necessary. Compensation Payment is based on content and word count per project and or $15 per hour 3-6 hours per work week.  Pay Increase incentives opportunity ($50 commission on sold ads)
